Alex and Marie Mateos say:
“The competition is over, we are back home from Cleopatra and Pharaohs’ country”
Each one with a gold medal! Thanks to the power and perfect output of our reliable Polini THOR 250 engines we have been able to confirm again our position at the top of the rank. It was great to win together!
Alex: “This World Championship has been very hard in terms of mental engagement. Long waits under the scorching sun, and a total of 17 rounds with an average of 3 minutes for each test.
My best memory is when Marie won two second places, right behind me and ahead of all the other pilots…
My worst memory is for the semi-final rounds. A mistake was compromising my result that would have pushed me to the 3rd step of the podium (tiredness and stress did not help me). Fortunately, I managed to react quickly in the race and I turned the pylon in the right direction!”
Marie: “It was a competition full of emotions, with a difficult start due to the weather, but then everything went in the right direction.
My best memory of this Championship is connected to the conclusion of the eleventh task in second place, only 0,022 seconds behind Alex … what a pleasure to end up so close to him!
Unfortunately, during the final rounds, I made a technical error that made me fall into the water. Thanks to an efficient help and to the will, I put the paramotor back in-flight condition, taking off again after only 53 minutes… And I won the test that allowed me to continue in the final rounds.
I came sixth in the overall rank and won my second women’s world title”.
